Edale (1)
The village of Edale, seen from Barker Bank on the Great Ridge between Mam Tor and Lose Hill.
Edale is nestled between the peak of Mam Tor (517m; 1834 feet) to the south and the plateau of
Kinder Scout to the north. At 636m (2087 feet), Kinder Scout is the highest point in Derbyshire,
and in the whole of the Peak District.
The village is more or less in the middle of this picture, in the deep valley of Grindsbrook Clough.
What appears to be the highest point in this view is Grindslow Knoll (601m; 1972 feet), which rises
steeply above the village to form a southern outpost of the Kinder plateau.
